REINFORCED C AXIS

INFORMATION REQUEST

The large scale ONA QX Series, uses a modular design to allow many configurations. Each customer can configure, with a great flexibility, the machine that meets his exact requirements.

This new series utilizes pre-built axes modules to drastically reduce machine assembly time.

Each customer can get a custom system for the same price and lead time as a standard machine.

Manifold configurations of X-Y-Z travels:

  • X travel: 1500, 2000 or 3000 mm. / 59.0, 78.7 or 118.1 in.
  • Y travel: 750, 1000 or 1500 mm. / 29.5, 39.4 or 59.0 in.
  • Z travel: 650, 800 or 1000 mm. / 25.6, 31.5 or 39.4 in.

One or two heads commanded by two independent CNC generators. This allows the possibility of eroding two cavities simultaneously and independently in a big workpiece.

Highly rigid mechanical structure constructed of stabilized fine grained cast iron blended with graphite.

Fixed bedframe machine that allows work pieces up to 25.000 kg.

Totally automated ecological filter, maximum productivity and cost savings

Correction of the electrode in C and set up with synchronised interpolation in C.

Powerful CNC that can control up to 8 axes simultaneously and is capable of working in 3D without limitations.

The generator of the QX machines allows an improvement in the performance of the machine in fine finishing processes which makes it possible to achieve a final minimum roughness in the order of 0.08 µm Ra.

The structure of the machine has a design optimised by means of finite elements (FEM) and is made of stabilised grey cast iron, allowing the loading of workpieces weighing up to 25 tonnes.

The reinforced C axis provides erosion stability with electrodes that have high moments of inertia

EROSION OF A NITRIDED FORGING DIE

A total of 9 ONA machines are used by PSA Peugeot Citroen at the Peugeot production plant in Mulhouse (France) to erode nitrided forging dies - one of the toughest tasks that Peugeot undertakes. It is a good example of how die sinking EDM is used for the machining of large surface areas.

EROSION OF HONEYCOMB STRUCTURES USED IN AIRCRAFT ENGINE COMPONENTS

HAESL, a joint venture between Rolls-Royce, SIAEC and HAECO, provides a service for the repair and maintenance of aircraft engines and components for many of the leading airlines worldwide. One of the operations that ONA machines are most commonly used for is the machining of honeycomb lining structures.
